The Miami Dolphins are expected to release defensive end Phillip Merling, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported on Monday, citing a source. Merling was issued a tender at $1.1 million last month, but has been a disappointment in four years with the club. The 27-year-old Merling collected just four tackles in 10 games last season and has 66 in 47 career contests. He also has 3.5 sacks and one interception in his career.
