Aside from Josh Freeman’s struggles, the next most talked about topic regarding the Bucs has been the status of cornerback Eric Wright. From signing a big free agent contract this offseason to being suspended, Wright may have already seen his last game in pewter.  Mark Cook of Pewter Report writes that the Bucs will release him before the start of OTAs in April. In the article, Cook said the following regarding Wright’s possible release: After serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s ban on performance-enhancing substances the team is prepared to go in another direction, and most likely will release Wright before the start of any OTA (organized team activities) in the spring…. …The team will look to improve the cornerback position via free agency this spring, although sources say the potential crop of free agents isn’t very promising. The Buccaneers will also address the position in April’s NFL Draft. There has also been some other signs and they could have come from Eric Wright himself. The day before the Bucs final game of the season in Atlanta, Wright tweeted the following:   His guaranteed salary for 2013 was voided due to his suspension which further speculates his release. It won’t be a surprise if Wright is in fact let go. When the Bucs restructured contracts for Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks last week, I mentioned Wright was more than likely gone. Seems as if it may become a reality. The post Report: Eric Wright may not return to the Bucs appeared first on The Bay Cave.
