Former Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl running back Michael Bennett is one of three ex-NFL players who have been arrested by the FBI, according to the Miami Herald.
Bennett was arrested on federal charges stemming from an alleged scheme to steal identities and file false tax returns using other people's names to collect thousands of dollars in refunds.
The two other former players charged with defrauding the federal government and ID theft are William Joseph, a 2003 first-round pick of the New York Giants who played six NFL seasons, and Louis Gachelin, a free-agent signee of the New England Patriots in 2004 who never made the roster. Joseph and Gachelin are Miami natives, and Bennett is from Milwaukee.
According to the Herald, all three were questioned after their arrests on Monday by FBI agents in Miami. They were later transferred to the Federal Detention Center for court appearances on Tuesday afternoon.
