According to a story by Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Browns linebacker Scott Fujita contributed money for extra incentive while a member of the New Orleans Saints. Here is the relevant piece on Fujita-

“On Sunday, Fujita said, “Over the years I’ve paid out a lot of money for big plays like interceptions, sacks and special teams tackles inside the 20. But I’ve never made a payment for intentionally injuring another player.” Fujita said he didn’t think he ever put money into a collective pot; rather when a teammate made a play, Fujita handed him the money he’d promised.”

King continued-

“Fujita’s name in the investigation is noteworthy. After signing with the Browns as a free agent a month after the Super Bowl win, he accepted a nomination to the NFL Players Association’s executive board. During the 2011 negotiations on the new 10-year collective bargaining agreement, he and former Cardinals and Steelers special teams star Sean Morey pushed hard for improvements in working conditions, including fewer full-contact practices during the season. It was Fujita’s emphasis on health care for former players who have debilitating illnesses, such as close friend and former Saints safety Steve Gleason, who suffers from ALS, that helped persuade the two sides to include lifetime care for ex-players with that disease. It’s hard to reconcile Fujita’s being part of the problem in 2009 and part of the solution in 2011.” “You don’t spend time with guys like Sean Morey and other former players, or have close friends whose health fails them, possibly because of this game, and not be affected by that,” Fujita said. “I wanted to be part of the paradigm shift.”

The investigation by the NFL is ongoing.

Fujita on the NFL and Player Safety: “The hypocrisy infuriates me.”

Scott Fujita is embroiled in the NFL’s bounty controversy as a former member of the New Orleans Saints. Fujita spoke to Peter King in an effort to set the record straight that he paid out for “interceptions, sacks and special teams tackles inside the 20,” rather than plays where guys were injured or knocked out of the game. It is important for Fujita to be out front on this...

Maybe the Browns do not want RG3 afterall

Redskins fans are losing sleep over what Mike Holmgren might do (to them) in the 2012 NFL Draft April 26. Holmgren is the man most likely to ruin our day, depending on what he decides about Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III. Hog Heaven warned you that the Cleveland Browns have more valued Draft picks and more of them to throw into a deal to move up to the St. Louis Rams'...

Reasons why the Browns won’t draft RG3

Robert Griffin III could be under center for the Cleveland Browns, if accounts are believed heading toward the college player draft. Don Delco loves RG3, but now he's only playing devil's advocate.

The Cleveland Browns should acquire WR Mike Wallace

The Pittsburgh Steelers did not place the franchise tag on WR Mike Wallace yesterday at the league imposed deadline, instead using a first-round tender. With two first-round draft picks in next month’s draft, the Cleveland Browns should consider using the number 22 pick and acquire WR Mike Wallace. At this time of the year, lying by front offices of NFL franchises...

Schefter: Broncos will join Browns in franchising their kicker Matt Prater

It was something of a punchline among other NFL fans that the Cleveland Browns decided to use their franchise tag on Phil Dawson… last year. This year, when they did it again many scoffed again because the Browns seemingly didn’t have any “real football players” worth franchising. Even as a Cleveland fans who loves Phil Dawson, I kind of get it even if the truth is the Browns...

Report: Tony Grossi leaving the Plain Dealer

Tony Grossi announced via his twitter feed that he will be leaving the Plain Dealer- “After more than 30 years, I am leaving the Plain Dealer. And thanks to Peyton Manning for stealing my thunder.” Grossi was of course removed from the Cleveland Browns beat earlier this year for a tweet about Browns owner Randy Lerner in which Grossi called Lerner “a pathetic figure, the most...

Michael Turner’s Girlfriend Goes Elin Woods On His Baby Mama

Antonio Cromartie and Travis Henry better watch out. Michael Turner’s coming at them with a vengeance. Roger Goodell and Peter King can check their fake indignation.
