Tom Brady may be the quarterback in the family, but his wife is the one throwing Hail Marys.
In an email, supermodel Gisele Bundchen implored friends and family to pray hard for her husband to win Sunday's Super Bowl against the Giants.
"I feel Tommy really needs our prayer, our support and love at this time," Bundchen wrote in the message sent out to Brady-clan insiders.
"My sweet friends and family," the email began. "This Sunday will be a really important day in my husband's life. He and his team worked so hard to get to this point and now they need us more than ever to send them positive energy so they can fulfill their dream of winning this Super Bowl."
The Brazilian added, "So I kindly ask all of you to join me on this positive chain and pray for him, so he can feel confident, healthy and strong. Envision him happy and fulfilled experiencing with his team a victory this Sunday. Thank you for your love and support. Love, G :)."
Reached via email, Bundchen said Wednesday, "I am surprised that you received this email; it was a private note only sent to close friends and family."
The last time the two teams met in a Super Bowl, in 2008, came shortly after the Patriots' power couple started dating but before they tied the knot in 2009.
Bundchen's pleas for prayer make her sound a lot less confident in the Pats' chances Sunday than her "Tommy."
Earlier in the week, he brazenly told a crowd of Patriots fans at a pep rally in Massachusetts, "We're going down there, and were going down there for one reason . . . hopefully, we'll have a lot more people at our party next weekend."
That boast sounds like the kind of arrogance the Patriots engaged in before Super Bowl XLII four years ago, when they trademarked "19-0" in anticipation of completing an undefeated season with a championship win over the Giants.
That win would never come to pass, with Eli Manning leading Big Blue to a 17-14 win over Brady and Co.
Earlier in the week, Brady said Bundchen gave him some advice before he headed off to Indianapolis. "Throw the ball quickly," he said she told him. "She doesn't like it when I get hit very often."

The reason the gallery is so amusing is the fact that this guy is super rich, successful, handsome and gets to go share a bed with Gisele Bündchen. Wait. That’s not amusing. That’s not amusing at all. The entire 15-pic gallery can be found at Sports Pickle, so go there. But here are a few [...]
Don’t worry, folks: the Super Bowl is almost here. These next three days will be long ones, but we’ll all get through them together. Just think, when you finished watching the Giants overtime victory over the Niners back in January the big game was a full 14 days away. We’re in the home stretch. But until that time comes, let’s talk about Tom Brady’s socks.
In one of those...
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul isn’t too worried about being able to rattle Patriots quarterback Tom Brady this coming Sunday.
“Anybody can be rattled,” said Pierre-Paul. “Tom Brady is a great quarterback, but at the end of the day he’s just a quarterback. It’s not like he’s God.”
Pierre-Paul is right, the past couple of meetings between the Giants...

Giant and Patriots players were assigned Tuesday as their media day to answer questions and gawk at hot Latina news reporters. However that didn’t stop two radio stations from talking to Pats QB Tom Brady and Giants WR Victor Cruz. Who cares that it isn’t Tom Brady the NFL all-world quarterback with the devilish good looks or Victor Cruz, the standout speedster receiver.
Oh, Gisele Bundchen is a model too. Not as hot as Tom Brady though. Well a family friend just backstabbed the power couple by making Gisele's private e-mail to her open to the public. In an egotistical mawkish email (MUST CREDIT NEW YORK POST), Gisele Bundchen asked for some positive thoughts to be sent "Tommy's" way because he has a big day this weekend.
Plotting how to keep quarterback Tom Brady out of the clutches of the New York Giants' fearsome pass rushers will occupy most of Bill O'Brien's waking hours this week, and who knows how many of his dreams. But it's not his only worry.
There are inevitably times during Super Bowl week when we can’t help but notice that PFT has come a long way since Florio starting pounding out posts in his mother’s basements. Talking with Joe Montana about quarterbacks is one of those times. Here’s one of the greatest of all time breaking down Tom Brady and…
Glamour Boy is here and ready to play in Sunday's Super Bowl. Glamour Wife is out of sight - unless you count the front page of the New York Post.
Gisele Bundchen landed the one cover she didn't want Thursday after New York's most outrageous tabloid got hold of an email she'd sent to friends and family, asking them to send their ''positive energy''...
For only the fifth time in Super Bowl history, we will see a rematch of a previous Super Bowl when the New York Giants and New England Patriots collide in Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis on Sunday.
But, what to expect in perhaps the most-anticipated of all the previous Super Bowl matchups?”
For starters, despite the obvious storyline of how well Tom Brady may or may not fare against...
