Talented wide receiver Percy Harvin had a heated exchange with head coach Leslie Frazier just a few weeks after FOX television cameras caught Harvin shouting at him on the sideline at Seattle on Nov. 4. According to ESPN 1500 in Minneapolis, which cites four sources, said Harvin and Frazier had the exchange in front of players and staff members. Harvin was reportedly frustrated by the lack of progress in his recovery from a high ankle sprain. Earlier the same week, Harvin attempted to return to practice but was shut down and, after the spat with Frazier, placed on injured reserve. Harvin was diagnosed with a torn ligament in his ankle. The initial injury occurred during the Seattle game and didn't heal in the typical recovery window of four to six weeks. This wouldn't be Harvin's first difference of opinion with coaches. He clashed with former Vikings head coach Brad Childress, staged a brief holdout in August that was more of a statement-sending vacation than a contract standoff and infamously was alleged to have attempted to strangle his wide receivers coach at Florida, Billy Gonzales. Harvin, 24, will be in the final year of his contract in 2013. He's extremely talented -- witness his 62 catches in the first nine games of the season -- an electric athlete who makes good things happen when he touches the ball, but there's a growing audience that can question his maturity, professionalism and durability. Those variables combined might be enough to prevent the Vikings from handing the 5-11, 188-pound playmaker a megadeal any time soon.
