Per a tweet from the Jacksonville Jaguars official Twitter feed, the Jacksonville Jaguars have placed quarterback Blaine Gabbert on season-ending injured reserve due to right forearm and left shoulder injuries as well as wide receiver Laurent Robinson due to a concussion:
Gabbert’s shoulder injury is rumored to be a torn labrum. The Jaguars traded up six spots in the 2011 NFL Draft to grab Gabbert at the 10th spot, signing him to a 4-year contract worth $12 million. In his rookie season, Gabbert was sacked 40 times (3rd most in the league), and had an abysmal completion percentage of 50.8% (2nd worst behind then-Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow). He finished last among qualifying quarterbacks in passer rating (65.4) and yards per attempt (5.4). In his two-year career, Gabbert has completed 53.8% of his passes for 3,876 yards, 21 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, with a 70.2 passer rating.
Robinson was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft; his rookie season he had 37 receptions for 437 yards and a touchdown. He was traded to the St Louis Rams in 2009, but early in the season he fractured his fibula and was placed on IR. After only 34 receptions for 344 yards and two touchdowns in 2010, he was released and signed with the San Diego Chargers, but was released at the end of the preseason. In 2011, he signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys and had a breakout season, completing the year with 54 receptions for 858 yards and 11 touchdowns. He signed a 5-year contract worth $32.5 million with the Jaguars in 2012. In his career, Robinson has caught 167 passes for 2,110 yards and 15 touchdowns.
