We reported the news yesterday that the New York Jets were reportedly avoiding Darrelle Revis’ representation at the NFL combine. While at the time the reason was unknown  many assumed it was because the Jets didn’t want to address the trade rumors that had been swirling around their star player. Now according to the New York Daily News, we find out that the Jets were actively shopping Revis at the combine to multiple teams. Sources with knowledge of the situation indicate that teams were inquiring about Revis and were interested into what they would have to give up to get him, and how much they would be required to pay Revis in a new contract. As great as Revis is, he is entering the last year of his current contract. I can’t imagine teams would be willing to pull the trigger on a deal unless they know Revis would stay with that franchise long-term. It also appears that despite how much he loves Revis, Jets head coach Rex Ryan is out of the loop when it comes to the trade talks. Owner Woody Johnson wants to deal Revis and new GM John Idzik is apparently trying everything in his power to make that possible. Coming off an ACL tear last year and only one year left on his deal, Revis appears to be expendable because of his want for one of the biggest contracts in NFL history.
