TEAMS: Chicago Bears, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers
The New York Jets have expanded their general manager search to include three additional candidates Thursday, including former Chicago Bears GM Jerry Angelo, according to multiple reports. The Jets have already interviewed four candidates since dismissing Mike Tannenbaum, but haven't narrowed the field. Angelo was fired by the Bears after the 2011 season, is the only known candidate with GM experience. He spent 11 years in Chicago, and constructed the team that lost to the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI. The Jets will also meet with Miami Dolphins assistant GM Brian Gaine and Pittsburgh Steelers director of football and business administration Omar Kahn. The team has contacted at least 12 potential candidates, according to an ESPN report. The next GM will have to keep head coach Rex Ryan for at least one season, and owner Woody Johnson told reporters that he any negative feedback on that choice from candidates. "I really haven't had any reaction, no,&quo...

Recently retired Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff classified Tebow's role with the team as an "absolute mess," adding his presence was "a distraction."
Breaking Down the New York Jets Roster – Again
Now that Rex Ryan has been retained as Jets Head Coach and he and Woody Johnson went ahead with their press conference/public stoning by the media, the big story in JetsLand these past few days has been who the new General Manager is going to be. The bigger issue, however, is what that new GM is going to do once he takes over the office previously occupied by Mike Tannenbaum. It’s...
Greg McElroy Says The Jets Were Not As Chaotic As They Seemed
It seems like everyday we are reporting on something circus like and messy going on with the New York Jets. Quarterback Greg McElroy was quoted last year as saying that the Jets had a “corrupt mindset,” in their lockerroom.
It’s amazing what the opportunity to start will do for one’s ability to deliver compliments, because yesterday according to the Star-Ledger, McElroy...
Report: Jets planned on using Tim Tebow as a running back
According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the New York Jets planned on lining quarterback Tim Tebow up as a running back, but never got around to it.
The team had visions of lining up Tebow at running back in traditional sets when they acquired him via trade from the Denver Broncos last March, according to a person with knowledge of the team’s plans at the time of the trade...
New York Jets clean house, fire Sparano
The New York Jets are continuing to clean house. Today, the rebuilding management fired their offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano.
The move was not surprising considering the Jets terrible season. Since Sparano was hired, many wondered if he was right for the job. With a background as an offensive line coach and no experience with quarterbacks, this was yet another move by the...
The Jets Wanted to Convert Tim Tebow into a Running Back
There is one of two things that should be done with Tim Tebow. Either let him be a full-time quarterback or turn him into a utility guy.
The Jets tried to do both and they failed miserably.
It has to be one or another. According to USA Today the Jets had plans of turning into a RB and sharing carries with Shonn Green.
I said this when Tebow was signed with the Jets, don’t call...
Jets reportedly planned to make Tim Tebow a running back
Tim Tebow and the New York Jets are parting ways after what developed into a disappointing season for both parties. Tebow accepted a trade to the Jets — and actually picked them over the Jacksonville Jaguars — because he believed he would have a good chance of becoming the starting quarterback there. Though Mark Sanchez’s poor play certainly merited a quarterback switch, Tebow...
Greg McElroy Denies That Jets Were Circus This Year, Supports Tony Sparano After Ouster
You know a team is in bad shape when its third-string quarterback is taking potshots.
Luckily, that’s not the case — this year.
While Jets third-string (or backup, or starter, depending on the week) quarterback Greg McElroy was among those chiming in on the poor state of the Jets’ chemistry after last season, he sounded very supportive of the team on Sirius XM’s Mad Dog Radio...

Jets GM Candidates Wary Of Gig Because Of N.Y.'s 'Salary Cap Hell'
The Jets are in bad shape. Even though 6-10 is fixable, it's a lot harder to fix things when you don't have a franchise quarterback, don't have a general manager, need new coordinators and are a whopping $19.4 million (reportedly) over the salary cap. So it perhaps shouldn't be that surprising that, according to the New York Post's Brian Costello, potential candidates...
