From Matt Maiocco comes news that 49ers left tackle Joe Staley recently had knee surgery to repair a “minor” torn meniscus in his left knee. Staley did not participate during 49ers OTAs last week. More:
The knee otherwise looked “perfect,” a source said, and Staley is expected to be ready for the opening of training camp in late-July.
Can’t emphasize the word “minor” enough. And it certainly sounds a whole lot less alarming than the latest injury development across the Bay.
But anytime the anchor of your offensive line—the guy protecting Colin Kaepernick’s blind side—gets medical instruments jammed into his knee to fix it, it should give pause.

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is trying to rekindle the magic he had at the beginning of last season, but he’ll have to do it without Alex Smith who is now in Kansas City.

His numbers jumped up to 11 catches for 210 yards and a touchdown...
According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, 49ers running back Kendall Hunter (Achilles) and wide receiver Kyle Williams (ACL) did some individual drills at the start of practice on Tuesday.
This is a good sign for both players. The 49ers are going to need both Hunter and Williams to get healthy and contribute in 2013. Frank Gore isn’t getting any younger and they need...
To fix a problem that plagued him last season, San Francisco 49ers tackle Joe Staley opted to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee during OTAs rather than miss any time in training camp, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Elsewhere in Vegas, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick chilled shirtless with Javale McGee. I’m no judge, but I’m pretty sure Kaep’s at the wrong party. Maybe give John Wall a ring?

Green Bay's season was shot full of holes when Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers essentially rolled out a new offensive philosophy in the playoffs. The Packers have done their homework during the offseason but practices haven't been dedicated to defending the latest fad.
