DEAL OR NO DEAL Nick Fairley looks to be in more hot water than he anticipated. WPMI Local 15 News in Mobile, Ala., said Fairley was in court Thursday expecting to get a plea deal for his DUI arrest in May, when an Alabama State Trooper pulled him over for going about 100 mph. The County Circuit Judge had other plans. Jim Schwartz’s family is finally speaking with him again after Lions' terrible season

The Detroit Lions were one of the most disappointing teams in football last season, going from a playoff appearance in 2011 to a miserable 4-12 record in 2012. After posting its first winning record in 11 years, the team was expected to continue improving and possibly even win a playoff game. Instead, the Lions went in the opposite direction. Head coach Jim Schwartz took a lot of...

Suh and Megatron were a big part in the Lions’ free agent success

Going into this offseason there was a lot of speculation in what Detroit was going to do in regards to free agency. Some reports said the team was going after Reggie Bush (which they ultimately did) while other reports suggested Detroit was up against the cap and couldn’t do a whole lot. Furthermore it was already determined that the Lions were destined to lose all their free agents...

Lions' Jahvid Best might spend 2013 on PUP

Detriot Lions running back Jahvid Best spent last season on the physically unable to perform list after suffering a career-threatening concussion in 2011, and he might just have to go into the 2013 season on the PUP again, reports Anwar S. Richardson of MLive.com. Lions general manager Martin Mayhew believes that could be very well an option again this year, saying "We could...

Lions could stash running back Jahvid Best on PUP for 2013

The Detroit Lions are not ready to give up running back Jahvid Best. Best missed the entire 2012 season while dealing with concussion symptoms. Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said that he would consider placing the running back on the physically unable to perform list for the entire 2013 season. Such a move would give Best more like to recover and in a best case scenario allow...

Reggie Bush could push the Lions over the playoff hump

Last season was nothing short of disastrous for the Detroit Lions. Coming off a rare playoff appearance, the Lions were never able to put together complete games, and their 4-12 record reflected that. At times, the offense or the defense would play well, but it was never for an extended period of time, and they never came across as the same threatening team that they were in 2011...

2013 NFL Mock Draft: Detroit Lions Pre-Draft Strategy

Eight consecutive losses is not the way any team wants to end a season, but that is how the Detroit Lions finished the 2012-2013 campaign.  Posting a miserable 4 and 12 record the Lions finished last in their division and seriously underachieved.  The main reason for this is the Lions defense giving up the sixth most points per game in the NFL last year. With the signing of running...

Reiff, Mayhew, and the failure to make good decisions in the draft

Sometimes it is hard to be a Detroit Lions fan. Strike that, pretty much all the time it is tough to be a fan of this team that cannot ever seem to make the right decision on the day when good teams have to make quality decision to make their roster better. Two headlines from [...]

Record shows Mayhew has to do better

The two surprise teams that made the NFC playoffs last season did so largely because of sharp decisions in the draft a year ago. Seattle went from 7-9 to 11-5 after taking quarterback Russell Wilson in the third round, 75th overall. Wilson gave the Seahawks a surprising dual threat and was arguably just as productive as higher-profile picks Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. Washington...
