The Patriots could be without their No. 3 wide receiver for the remainder of the season.
Julian Edelman has a broken foot and could be headed to injured reserve, according to Dan Roche of WBZ. Edelman hurt his foot in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over the Dolphins and was seen leaving the locker room on crutches in a walking boot.
The Patriots already made plans to replace Edelman on Monday by signing wide receiver Donte Stallworth. Stallworth was with the team in training camp and during the 16-0 2007 season.
Edelman has 21 receptions for 235 yards and three touchdowns, while also contributing four rushes for 45 yards. His contributions may be missed most on special teams, where he’s returned 17 punts for 263 yards and a touchdown.
