Free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has visited both the 49ers and Saints and is still trying to figure out which team he wants to play for in 2013, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Asomugha continues to consider the 49ers and the Saints as a potential next destination, per a source with knowledge of the situation.  Other teams had expressed interest in Asomugha, but no other visits have been taken. Both teams give Asomugha a chance to win, but the best fit might be the Saints, since Rob Ryan is now their defensive coordinator.  They’re familiar with one another from their time in Oakland time together.  Ryan might be able to get Nnamdi back on track after a rough stint in Philly.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Game of Inches: What Phil Dawson will bring back to the 49ers

In the 2011 season with Alex Smith at the helm and the 49er defense dominating, a conservative offensive approach, run first and rely heavily on the defense to keep the 49ers competitive.  David Akers was brought over from Philadelphia after a long stay with the Eagles became a valuable asset for the 49er offense, often times bailing out a struggling red zone attack and carrying...

Saints Nation: Saints' Current Cap Situation

It was reported after the contract restructures by Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith just prior to the offseason starting that the Saints were somewhere around $8.5 million under the salary cap. Enough room to add some talent but likely not make a massive splash in free agency. Since then, the Saints have signed Justin Drescher, Keenan Lewis, Ramon Humber, Ben Watson, Will Herring and...

Saints Nation: Saints Need a Defensive Playmaker, Version 3.0

This is the third offseason in a row I am clamoring for a difference maker on defense. In 2011, I wrote this. Unsatisfied with how that year went, I essentially wrote the exact same piece in 2012. Here we are again, for the third straight year, and I'm singing a familiar refrain we're all starting to know a little too well. The Saints haven't had a 2009 version of Darren...

The Loss Of Keenan Lewis Won’t Be Felt Until After 2013

We all thought that the Pittsburgh Steelers top priority this offseason would have to be re-signing unrestricted free agent CB Keenan Lewis. Obviously that wasn’t the case as Lewis signed a five year contract with the New Orleans Saints and Lewis said his farewell to Steelers’ fans on twitter via Dave Bryan of Steelersdepot.com. According to Lewis, the Steelers never offered...
