Fox Sports Wisconsin:
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Packers have signed free-agent running back Ryan Grant and will likely place running back James Starks on injured reserve, according to Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin.com.
This is a return to Green Bay for Grant, who played five seasons with the Packers from 2007 to 2011 and ran for 1,200-plus yards in two of them.
Grant, who will turn 30 Sunday, was not re-signed by Green Bay in the offseason, with the team deciding instead to sign Cedric Benson. Grant spent one month with the Washington Redskins midway through this season before being released.
Starks injured his knee in Sunday's game, but, the next day, coach Mike McCarthy didn't sound worried about it.
"We have a couple guys that are being evaluated," McCarthy said Monday. "Nothing of serious nature."
Starks has been impressing McCarthy lately and scored on a 22-yard run Sunday.
"I liked what James Starks did; I thought he stepped up," McCarthy said after the game. &quo...

Detroit Lions (4-8) at Green Bay Packers (8-4)
This is a really interesting game. Earlier this week, I wrote about some of the parity related things that happen every single year and how those could be used to help predict games the rest of the way. The Lions are by far the likeliest candidate to be this year’s team that goes from in the playoffs to 5 wins or fewer. Only the Saints...
With James Starks' knee injury to keep him out for "multiple" weeks, the Packers brought back a familiar face, Ryan Grant. Grant is fifth on Green Bay's all-time rushing list, running for 4,016 yards and 25 touchdowns from 2007-11.
Running back Ryan Grant is returning to the Green Bay Packers to help shore up a position where they've been hard hit by injuries. Grant indicated that he would be back with the team, ESPN.com reported Wednesday. The Packers didn't sign the veteran during the offseason. Instead, they went with former Cincinnati running back Cedric Benson, who is injured and out for the...

With a depleted backfield, the Green Bay Packers have brought back a player from their past, adding veteran free agent RB Ryan Grant. The Packers have lost RB Cedric Benson for the season and could lose RB James Starks for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. The loss of Starks leaves the Packers with little depth on the roster with Alex Green likely to shoulder the majority...
