The Carolina Panthers and running back Mike Tolbert came to terms on a four-year deal, a league source told NFL.com's Jason La Canfora on Monday.

The Panthers announced the signing of Mike Tolbert Monday, sparking speculation that they may trade one of their running backs. Tolbert carried the ball 121 times for 490 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2011.
The agent for free agent running back Mike Tolbert says his client has signed a four-year contract with the Carolina Panthers.
Joel Turner says his client is so excited about joining Carolina that ''he left over $1 million on the table from San Diego - that's how bad he wanted to play there.''
Turner did not release financial terms.

Tolbert will now enter a crowded backfield in Carolina and will fight for carries with DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, plus quarterback Cam Newton. But perhaps Tolbert will work as the goal-line back, and the Panthers could opt to...
Because linebacker Thomas Davis was willing to give up some money, he got a chance to come back to the Carolina Panthers.
Because left guard Travelle Wharton wouldn't, he went on the market until being signed by Cincinnati.
