Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos came away with the AFC West division crown in remarkable fashion last season.
However, if Denver lands Peyton Manning during this 2012 NFL Free Agency frenzy, and the move makes the Broncos a tougher team (as expected), Philip Rivers says he would like to see it happen. The San Diego Chargers star signal-caller told San Diego’s XX 1090 radio, via the Denver Post (PFT reports) that he hopes to see the deal get done because he would covet the challenge of facing Manning twice each season.
“It would make it that much tougher to win the West,” Rivers said. “All the sudden, at least from a media’s perspective, it would become a division that’s not lost in the shuffle like it’s been in years past. I kind of hope that that’s the case just because it’s always fun to play a Peyton Manning-led football team.”
“To play him twice a year that would be a battle like crazy to win the division,” Rivers added. I hope it happens. One thing you know about him, he
BEST OF MAXIM
The lure of returning to the state where he was a college football legend was not enough.
And now the Tennessee Titans have to plan for the aftermath of missing out on Peyton Manning as well as number of other free agents, who could have provided the Titans with much needed help but signed elsewhere while the Titans pursued Manning.
When owner Bud Adams stepped in and publicly...
Peyton Manning could be on the verge of choosing to play for the Tennessee Titans, according to multiple sources. While the Peyton watch seems likely to be down to the Titans or Denver Broncos, the signing of offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson by Tennessee appears to give them to current edge to land the former NFL MVP of the Indianapolis Colts.
Hutchinson and Manning...
I'll be honest with you. I am pretty much done with all the fuss surrounding Peyton Manning at the moment. I understand that a lot of it is not his fault, and he is the biggest free agent name out there at the moment; but did I read that ESPN even had a helicopter following Manning's car earlier this week?
What bothers me about all this frenzy surrounding Manning is the...
Chris Mortensen of ESPN has reported the San Francisco 49ers worked out Peyton Manning on Tuesday in North Carolina. The 49ers have been unmasked as the mystery team in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes. The question for the Cleveland Browns is do you go after Alex Smith if Peyton signs with the San Francisco 49ers? Alex Smith has a year of the training in a version of the west cost...
Pro Football Talk is reporting that the 49ers and Mario Manningham have agreed on a 2 year deal. No word on the specifics of the deal.
With the addition of Manningham, do the 49ers still have enough cap space to sign Peyton Manning and if so does the addition of Manningham help get Manning to SF. Either way after less than a week into free agency, the 49ers wide receiving core has...
While the rivalry between the Patriots and Colts has gone cold, quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning will rekindle their battle in 2012. Manning will sign with the Broncos on Monday, according to an array of reports, which means he'll be visiting Gillette Stadium next season. The NFL will release its schedule at some point in late April, but the Patriots are already slated...
Quarterback Peyton Manning is slated to work out for the Broncos Friday, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.
While Manning left Tennessee without a contract, the AFC South club is still believed to be in the running to land the 4x NFL MVP. Arizona is still in the Manning sweepstakes, for that matter, as well.
Peyton Manning’s options have been become more clear over the last few days and we are getting closer to finding out who will have the future Hall of Famer under center. One team may surprise you!
The possibilities reported early on included teams on either coast, in america’s heartland, and a one a mile high! I can imagine that 2/3′s of the league at least considered if it...
MINING FOR GOLD
All the talk about Peyton Manning involved a few teams, but apparently a mystery team showing interest is the San Francisco 49ers.
With reports now coming in that Peyton Manning met with the 49ers, I think we can officially say that there is no possible way to predict what Manning is going to do next, much less where or how long he's planning on doing it.
Finally, Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning made his decision. It likely stemmed from his friendship with Hall of Fame QB and Denver Broncos executive John Elway. The Denver Broncos give Peyton Manning a great shot to win, but they must address some needs moving forward.
The Tennessee Titans looked like the best fit for Peyton Manning. The blind side of their offensive...
You want to know how bad the Miami Dolphins need Peyton Manning? Let's start with a little history lesson. You know what they say about filling the shoes of a Hall of Famer -- you can't. Ever since the retirement of Dan Marino in 2000, the Dolphins were left trying to find any quarterback who can start and make them a respectable offensive team. When you had the likes...
Denver Broncos executive vice president John Elway took the time to post his thoughts on Twitter, of Peyton Manning’s work out at Duke this afternoon.
“We enjoyed visiting with Peyton today in N.C. He threw the ball great and looked very comfortable out there,” tweeted Elway.
Jim Harbaugh and the San Francisco 49ers also came away pleased with Manning’s work out when they...
