Report: Pittsburgh Steelers signing WR Scotty Miller to one-year deal
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers are adding veteran wide receiver Scotty Miller to the roster. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Miller is signing with the Steelers to a one-year contract. He will be reunited with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith who was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons for the last three years. Miller played for the Falcons last season.

In Miller’s one season with the Falcons, he caught 11 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns in a reserve role. He joined the Falcons in March of 2023 after spending four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“He’s quick, he’s athletic and he can run,” Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot said at the time, per the Falcons’ official website. “He has shown the ability to make plays. That came together pretty quick and we’re excited to add him to the mix.”

Miller was selected by the Buccaneers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. His best season with the franchise was in 2020 when he caught 33 passes for 501 yards and three touchdowns while playing with 2020. In that same year, Miller helped the Buccaneers win the Super Bowl. During that run, the Bowling Green alum recorded four receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown.

Scotty Miller wants to ‘take advantage of every opportunity’

Before the start of the 2022 season, Miller spoke to reporters about the challenges of lasting in the NFL since he does not have great size. “Yeah, it’s never going to be easy,” he said, per the Buccaneers’ official website. “Nothing’s ever going to be handed to you. It’s kind of like my journey my whole life with football, ever since I was a little kid it’s never been easy. So I’ve just got to fight for everything and that’s just what I’ll continue to do the rest of my career. It’s just a blessing to be out here and I just try to take advantage of every opportunity I get.”

During his time at Bowling Green, Miller was selected to the All-MAC First Team in 2016 after catching 71 passes for 1,148 yards and nine touchdowns. In his college career, Miller posted 215 receptions for 2,857 yards and 23 touchdowns in 45 games.

Miller joins a Steelers wide receiver group that includes George Pickens, rookie Roman Wilson and former Falcons teammate Van Jefferson. He will also be reunited with running back Cordarrelle Patterson who was with the Falcons for the last three seasons.
