Report: Players want NFL to discipline Chad Wheeler amid domestic violence allegations

The Seattle Seahawks released offensive tackle Chad Wheeler earlier this week amid domestic violence allegations. Now it appears people around the league want the NFL to discipline him.

According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, several players around the league want the NFL to "issue a strong statement against Wheeler and impose significant discipline against him."

Wheeler will likely never play on an NFL team again, but the league could ensure that by handing down punishment.

Wheeler allegedly strangled his girlfriend after she refused to bow to him to the point where he thought she was dead. When she woke up after being unconscious, he reportedly said, "Wow, you're alive?"

The 27-year-old was arrested on Saturday and released from jail on $400,000 bond on Tuesday.

Wheeler was not a starter for the Seahawks and was set to become a restricted free agent in March. The 27-year-old joined the Seahawks for the 2020 season after spending the 2017 and 2018 campaigns with the New York Giants.
