Free agent quarterback David Garrard had another reason beyond money for not joining the Miami Dolphins: No desire.
The Miami Herald, citing multiple sources close to the Dolphins, reported that the team was unable to reach an agreement with Garrard simply because the quarterback does not want to play. Of course, Garrard's feelings could have something to do with the fact the Dolphins are sitting at 0-4 with rumors abounding that coach Tony Sparano could be fired soon.
Garrard's agent tried to paint a picture that his client was unable to come to financial terms with the Dolphins after Chad Henne was lost for the season with a shoulder injury.
However, the newspaper reported that Garrard is content to sit out the season and sign as a free agent in March.
Garrard was expecting to begin the season as Jacksonville's starting quarterback until being abruptly waived less than a week before the opener in a cost-cutting move.
