Found March 10, 2013 on BlackSportsOnline:
Something may be going on in Oakland.  We’ve been seeing a lot of Terrelle Pryor on the t.v. screens, and not much of Carson Palmer. The writing could be on the wall for a possible change at the quarterback position.  Ian Rapoport and The Rap Sheet is reporting that Palmer who is due $13 million in 2013, could be released if he doesn’t restructure his contract. The Raiders could decide to release Palmer, and allow Pryor to compete against a quarterback they select in the draft.  Palmer who may see the writing on the wall, could decide to not accept a pay cut and take his chances on the open market.

Carson Palmer just about done in Oakland?

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network feels like there’s a good chance Carson Palmer will decline a pay cut and force the Raiders to release him.  He would then be able to go to a team of his choice. A more likely scenario in my mind is that Palmer sees the writing on the wall, would decline to take a pay cut, and join a mostly dormant free-agent market as the biggest name on it. The Raiders could...

Patient Raiders will look to leverage deep free agency to find some gems

The Raiders are unlikely to make an early splash in free agency but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be able to find some great players. The Raiders have needs on the offensive line and the defensive line, in the linebacking corps and in the secondary.  They also have to find a starting tight end. Not all of these positions will come in free agency, of course, but the...

Raiders Notes: Philip Wheeler, Desmond Bryant, Richard Seymour

Philip Wheeler Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle writes that there’s a ”good chance” OLB Philip Wheeler departs in the coming days. Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the day that Oakland wants to retain Wheeler and could see something getting done. Wheeler, 28, played great for a bad defense and deserved a pay raise, so I wish him the best this offseason. We have...

Raiders want to re-sign Philip Wheeler

According to Ian Rarpoport of the NFL Network, the Oakland Raiders want to re-sign linebacker Phillip Wheeler after a very good 2012 season. Wheeler recorded 109 tackles and 3 sacks in 2012 and really showed the Raiders that he belongs with them after starting out his career with the Colts.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement...

Raiders Could Be Getting Closer To Releasing QB Carson Palmer

Ian Rapoport of believes there’s a good chance that the Raiders will part ways with QB Carson Palmer if he’s unwilling to take a pay cut in the next few days. Palmer, 33, is set to make a base salary of $13 million next season and with plenty already being made about the Raiders’ terrible financial situation, there appears to be a chance that they could move forward...

Cardinals waiting for Carson Palmer to get released?

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to pursue a veteran free agent quarterback this offseason. According to, word around some league circles is that the Cardinals are waiting for the Raiders to release Carson Palmer so they can try to snatch him up. The writing has been on the wall since last season ended that Palmer will likely be cut, since he’s due to make...

2013 NFL Draft: 5 Prospects the Oakland Raiders Should Consider For No. 3 Pick

Who will the Oakland Raiders select with the No. 3 overall pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft? Oakland’s long list of offseason needs is centered primarily around its defense.  The Raiders finished 18th against the run, 18th in total yards, 20th against the run, 28th in scoring and next-to-last in sacks in 2012. But important decisions will also have to be made at...

Some good, some bad for Booty in first game

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Next Knuckler Josh Booty got his first taste of the real thing Sunday. Booty threw 28 pitches, about half knuckleballs, in the Diamondbacks' "B" game against a team of Giants minor leaguers on Sunday morning. It was the first time Booty faced opposing hitters since winning the MLB Networks reality-show competition that gave the winner a spot in D...

Tommy Kelly expected to be released by Raiders: ‘The writing is on the wall’

If Tommy Kelly is to be believed, don’t expect to see him in a Raiders uniform next season. The Raiders this offseason have been actively trying to shed salary to clear cap space via contract restructuring and giving players their outright releases. Kelly, who hasn’t heard from the team since the end of season, told the Chronicle’s Vic Tafur he expects to fall under the latter...

Oakland Raider’s Offseason Report

2012 Season Review: The Raiders continued their spiral that has been going on for over a decade now. Ever since the Super Bowl against the Tampa Bay Bucs in 2002 the Raiders have been in free fall. The good news for the Raiders is they are finally going a year without changing head coaches. They hired Dennis Allen last season and his first season did not go as planned in Oakland...
