According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is leaning towards starting quarterback Greg McElroy for next week’s game against the jaguars.
Rex Ryan is taking his sweet time picking a Jets quarterback to start against the Jaguars on Sunday, but league sources tell CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora that Ryan is leaning toward starting Greg McElroy at Jacksonville.
The staff has noted the improved pace and verve of the offense during McElroy’s brief stint replacing starter Mark Sanchez and rallying the team for a win over Arizona. The players responded well to the novice passer in the huddle, there was a renewed spirit from the moribund offense, which Sanchez continued to slump and turn the ball over.
One source suggested to La Canfora it was 65-35 in McElroy’s favor but noted that Ryan still was set to meet with general manager Mike Tannenbaum about the issue tonight. Tannenbaum moved up to draft Sanchez and has rewarded him handily with contra...

Rex Ryan indicated after the New York Jets’ 7-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday that he may stick with Greg McElroy as the team’s starting quarterback.
McElroy replaced Sanchez in the third quarter of the game and threw a touchdown pass on his first drive. That was all the Jets needed to win.
Addressing the media in his postgame news conference, Ryan made it seem like...
According to a report, Jets head coach Rex Ryan may indeed make a QB change this coming Sunday. Mark Sanchez could be benched in favor for Greg McElroy.
Rex Ryan is undecided on his starting quarterback for the New York Jets' next game, a day after he benched Mark Sanchez in favor of third-stringer Greg McElroy in the team's win over Arizona.
Ryan says Monday he needs ''a little more time to make that decision,'' adding that he wants to consult with his coaching staff. He expects to decide who'll start...

Jets coach Rex Ryan reportedly is expected to name Mark Sanchez the team's starting quarterback for its Week 14 showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The New York Jets announced on Wednesday that Mark Sanchez will once again be the team’s starting quarterback against the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend. Rex Ryan’s decision to bench Sanchez after a three-interception performance in the first half against the Arizona Cardinals last weekend led to speculation that the Jets could move forward with Greg McElroy the rest of the...
The New York Jets (5-7) beat the Arizona Cardinals (4-8) 7-6, today at MetLife Stadium from East Rutherford, NJ.
This was the most unwatchable game, and yet the Jets won the football game over the Cardinals in a ugly fashion way.
Mark Sanchez had the worse game of his entire football career. He wasn't going to survive this game in way shape or form.
In the third quarter...
It is not a good sign for Mark Sanchez. After the quarterback was pulled during a 10-of-21 three interception performance against Arizona, his understudy led the New York Jets to an ugly win.
Greg McElroy was inserted into the game for the Jets following the benching of Sanchez. McElroy got the call into the game as backup Tim Tebow was inactive as he deals with a rib injury.
While Greg McElroy may be the choice of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, he is not the choice of head coach Rex Ryan, who has named Mark Sanchez as the team’s starting quarterback for this Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sanchez was benched in New York’s Week 13 home win against the Arizona Cardinals after throwing three interceptions and failing to lead the...
We just mentioned that Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports has indicated that New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is leaning towards starting Greg McElroy at quarterback next week.
One of the most interesting things about La Canfora’s report is that the Jets don’t consider Tim Tebow to be a starting candidate.
This is confirmation that all Tebow is, is a gimmick to the Jets organization...
