(Elsa/Getty Images) According to a report from CBSBoston.com , New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will begin the preseason on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. This was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com . Not to worry Patriots fans, this was expected, and was the result of the back surgery he underwent on Tuesday.  The Amherst N.Y. native has spent a good portion of this offseason under the knife as Tuesday’s surgery marks the fifth time since last November that he has had a procedure done. After breaking his forearm against the Indianapolis Colts  in Week 11, he underwent four surgeries to repair it. Gronkowski needs as much rest as possible, so putting him on the PUP list was the logical and sensible thing to do. However, now with Aaron Hernandez bearing an uncertain future, the depth at tight end has suddenly become really thin. Gronkowski’s height (6-6) and statistical production (39 touchdowns in 43 games) are both tremendous assets to New England’...
