Rob Gronkowski‘s fourth surgery appears to have gone well. Here’s hoping it’s the last one. According to multiple reports on Monday, the Patriots tight end underwent successful surgery to install a new plate in his left forearm and make sure that there was no infection there. If there had been any infection, the fear was that Gronk might require an additional, fifth surgery that would then make it doubtful that he’d be ready for the start of the upcoming season. As it stands, Gronkowski is still dealing with some back pain that has required a closer look by some doctors. The team seems to be hopeful that he won’t need any surgery to fix what’s ailing him there, and that any possible rehab for that injury could be concurrent with the work he’ll be doing on his arm. Gronkowski seems to have no shortage of bad luck when it comes to injuries these days, but it seems like for now, Patriots fans can at least exhale for a bit without needing to hold their collective breath.
