Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could miss extended time with a “serious” shoulder injury. (AP) Per a tweet from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could miss extended time with a shoulder injury that is “serious” and “complicated.” The Steelers are keeping decidedly hush-hush regarding the status of their 2-time Super Bowl winning quarterback who was quietly having an MVP-caliber season. If he cannot go for an extended period of time, the Steelers would look to backup Byron Leftwich to guide them through a tough stretch of schedule, which includes playing their bitter division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, twice in the next three weeks. Losses in both those games would put their division title hopes in jeopardy, but with one of the NFL’s top defense, the Steelers should still vie for a playoff spot. The Steelers drafted Roethlisberger 11th in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, and he quickly became the face of the franchise. After earning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, Roethlisberger has been to the Super Bowl three times (winning two), and been named to the Pro Bowl twice (2007, 2011).  For his career, he has thrown for almost 29,000 yards with 63.4% accuracy, 182 touchdowns, 104 interceptions, and a passer rating of 92.8. This year, Roethlisberger has thrown for 2,287 yards (66.1% accuracy), 17 touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and posted a passer rating of exactly 100.0 Follow us on Twitter @DownandDistance Down and Distance Columnist - Shane Richardson @Shaner021The post Report: Roethlisberger’s Shoulder Injury is “Serious” and “Complicated” appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.
