Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson was indicted in Kentucky Thursday on a felony charge of trafficking marijuana, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The charge stemmed from a September drug sting, in which federal authorities tracked a package from California containing 2.5 pounds of marijuana to Simpson's home in Crestview Hills, Ky., just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. Investigators found an additional six pounds of marijuana inside Simpson's residence, along with scales and smoking devices. The 25-year-old wideout could face one to five years behind bars if convicted, according to The Enquirer. Bengals lineman Anthony Collins, who was present at the time of the raid, was not charged. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis has said Collins was at the wrong place at the wrong time, according to the paper. Simpson had a breakout season in 2011, his third year with the Bengals, who selected him in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. The former Coastal Carolina standout had 50 receptions for 725 yards and four touchdowns this season, helping the Bengals grab a wild-card spot in the playoffs. Simpson caught the attention of football fans across the nation in December after scoring a highlight-reel touchdown in which he did a front flip over Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington from the two-yard line, landing on his feet in the end zone.
