According to a story by my friend John Keim at the Washington Examiner, the Washington Redskins are trying to swing a deal for disgruntled Denver quarterback Jay Cutler.
The story does not indicate that a deal is close, only that the Redskins are trying to get something done. The source for Keim's story said that "They (the Redskins) to not trust Jason Campbell."
Regardless of whether or not the team brass "trusts" the incumbent QB, Cutler would represent an upgrade at the position. He made the Pro Bowl last year, throwing for over 4,500 yards and 25 touchdowns.
There would be a lot to be worked out to make any deal for Cutler work and the chances of it happing are still slim. But Keim appears to have uncovered some fire to go with the smoke that usually is billowing around Ashburn every time a high-profile player becomes available.
