According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Steelers have already decided to not slash a large chunk of Wallace’s salary for 2012, even though he still hasn’t signed his tender. “That’s never been an intention of ours,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert told 105.9 The X’s Mark Madden yesterday, per the Tribune-Review. “When we tendered Mike at the amount we did, the compensation through that tender, we really had no issue with that whatsoever because he is deserving of that.” Coltbert made it clear that they want Wallace to sign a long-term deal with the Steelers. “We want him to get a long-term deal that he deserves and I am real confident that we will be able to do that because when both sides want the same thing, it is only a matter of time,” Colbert said. Steelers won't reduce Wallace tender offer

Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert isn't planning to reduce the team's offer to wide receiver Mike Wallace. Wallace, a restricted free agent who hasn't signed his contract tender offer of one-year, $2.742 million because he wants a long-term deal, isn't working out with the team or guaranteed he'll report to training camp. Even so, Wallace won't be...

Kevin Colbert Open To Bringing Back Max Starks When He Is Healthy

The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their mandatory mini-camp on Thursday and General Manager Kevin Colbert joined 105.9 The X afterwards to answer several questions. One of the questions that Colbert was asked pertained to free agent tackle Max Starks, who continues to rehab his surgically repaired right knee after tearing his ACL in the AFC Wild Card Game against the Denver Broncos...

Rookie Contract For David DeCastro Likely Held Up Because Of Offsets

With the 2012 off-season practices now in the rear-view mirror, several are asking why Pittsburgh Steelers first round draft pick David DeCastro still hasn't been signed. The short answer is minor details and the long answer likely has something to do with whether the guaranteed amounts in the contract are "offset", per Andrew Brandt on Twitter. Basically offsets mean...

Long Snapper Greg Warren Looks To Quietly Dispose Of His Competition Once Again

The Pittsburgh Steelers roster includes several veterans, but one that constantly flies under the radar year in and year out is long snapper Greg Warren, who is entering his eighth season in the league. While Warren does not get a lot of media coverage, it probably doesn't hurt his feelings. In fact, the less you hear his name the better, as it means that he his doing his job...

Pittsburgh Steelers sign linebacker Brandon Johnson and long snapper Matt Katula

Pittsburgh Steelers mini-camp continued today, again without Mike Wallace who is not endearing himself to neither fans nor ownership with his holdout in protest of the RFA tender he was extended. While Coach Mike Tomlin and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger expect Wallace to sign his offer sheet and report sooner rather than later, there is still a lot of time left before the regular...

Hampton Will Likely Finish Career Outside of Pittsburgh

Casey Hampton is expecting to be ready for the start of the 2012 season. He is also hoping to play for a couple more seasons. Hampton’s contract is up after the 2012 season, however, which means he would have to sign a new contract to stay with the Steelers. With Hampton’s track record a Continue

Ben Roethlisberger Confident Steelers WR Mike Wallace Will Be In Training Camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven't seen much of Mike Wallace since the 2011 season ended. The game-breaking deep threat who's averaged better than 1,200 receiving yards the past two years has skipped offseason training and has yet to sign his $2.7 million restricted free agent tender as he holds out for a far more lucrative, long-term contract. However QB Ben Roethlisberger...

Getty Images According to ESPN’s John Clayton, there hasn’t been any progress between the  Pittsburgh Steelers and wide receiver Mike Wallace with regards to getting a new contract done.  The Steelers at this point remain optimistic that they’ll get something done. Bradshaw unfortunately correct about direction of football

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw made another one of his routine appearances on the ‘Jay Leno Show’ earlier this week and while his appearances usually come in the way of his folksy humor, the topic suddenly got serious. Leno asked Bradshaw about the concussion issue and without really being prompted, Bradshaw said, “If I had a son today – I would say...
