According to Peter King of SI.com (via ProFootballtTalk.com), former Lions and 49ers head coach Steve Mariucci is interested in coaching the San Diego Chargers. Of course we have no idea if the Chargers would be interested in Mariucci who’s been working for the NFL Network since being fired by the Lions in 2005.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })(); sr_adspace_id = 1000005525107; sr_adspace_width = 300; sr_adspace_height = 250; sr_ad_new_window = true; sr_adspace_type = "graphic";

Mariucci won't comment on reported interest in Chargers' job

Steve Mariucci responded to a report that he would be interested in the San Diego Chargers' head coaching job if it became available by saying on NFL Network he will not comment on the issue. The possible interest by Mariucci was reported by Sports Illustrated's Peter King on Sunday during NBC's "Football Night In America." Mariucci has been...

Chargers Sack McElroy 11 Times, Beat Jets

Norv Turner was in a generous mood, awarding game balls to each one of his San Diego Chargers who sacked Greg McElroy. Hope he stocked up on footballs.

Chargers rack up 11 sacks in 27-17 win over Jets

One after another, the San Diego Chargers barreled into Greg McElroy and slammed him to the turf. A whopping 11 times. That's a lot of bruises for the New York Jets' new - and sore - starting quarterback. Led by Kendall Reyes' 3 1/2 sacks, the Chargers made things downright miserable for McElroy, tying the team record for sacks in a 27-17 victory Sunday. ''...

Philip Rivers might have flipped off the New York Jets (Video)

I'll be honest, I'm not really sure if San Diego Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers is flipping off the New York Jets sideline or not. The incident happened in the third quarter of the Jets/Chargers game in the Meadowlands as San Diego had to burn a time out. Keep an eye on Phillip's finger as the NFL on CBS does a close-up on him during the stoppage of play:

Chargers punish McElroy, Jets in win

Norv Turner was in a generous mood, awarding game balls to each one of his San Diego Chargers who sacked Greg McElroy. Hope he stocked up on footballs. Led by Kendall Reyes' 3 1/2 sacks, the Chargers made things downright miserable for McElroy, taking him down 11 times and tying the team record while ruining the New York Jets quarterback's first NFL start in place of the...

San Diego Chargers at New York Jets: Week 16 NFL Pick

San Diego Chargers (5-9) at New York Jets (6-8) Ugh. How am I supposed to pick between these two teams? The Chargers have been incredibly inconsistent and the Jets are a mediocre at best team who has just been eliminated from the playoff race making a controversial move to start a former 7th round pick who has never made an NFL start. There’s a lot of conflicting stuff on both...

Week 16 AFC East game picks: Chargers at Jets

Lead writer Nick St. Denis and AFC East Daily contributors Dan Begnoche and Sean Donovan pick the New York Jets' home bout with the San Diego Chargers.Nick's take:Quarterback Greg McElroy, who will be making his first career start, will be the beneficiary of something Mark Sanchez has lacked all season: fan support. A strong running game, a conservative passing attack and...

Chargers 27, Jets 17

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Two teams mired in two forgettable seasons played a rather forgettable game as the San Diego Chargers beat the New York Jets 27-17 on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. For the Chargers (6-9), it was just their second win in their last seven games in a season that they started 3-1. A solid display by San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers, who was 11 for...

49ers-Seahawks Live Blog, First Half

Two stout defenses with mobile QBs in their first year of starting? I’ll be shocked if Peter King doesn’t drop a Xerox of Fate reference during the pregame. The Seahawks can still overtake the Niners and take the NFC West title should they win tonight and next week and San Francisco also drops its final game, however unlikely it is that the 49ers drop their Week 17 game against...
