As TMZ.com reported yesterday afternoon, former wide receiver Terrell Owens was rushed to the hospital last Thursday. It was not disclosed at that time the nature of the emergency. This morning, BET is now reporting that the trip to the hospital was in fact related to an alleged drug overdose.
Emergency services and police responded to Owens apartment last Thursday after a 911 call was placed to the authorities. Reports state that Owens has since been released from the hospital and calls to Owens representatives are not being returned.
This or course is not the first incident involving pain killers and a drug overdose for the wide receiver. In 2006, Owens was hospitalized for an what was referred to as a suicide attempt reportedly involving hydrocodone. That incident led to his publicist, Kim Etheredge holding a press conference. Etheredge told members of the media during that presser, “Terrell has 25 million reasons why he should be alive”.
