According to Tania Ganguli of ESPN.com,  the Houston Texans released running back Cierre Wood, lineback Willis Jefferson and defensive end Sam Montegomery for smoking pot at their team hotel in Kansas City this past weekend. Three sources who wished to remain anonymous told ESPN.com that the violation occurred due to marijuana use. “I don’t understand why they did it,” Texans outside linebacker Brooks Reed said. “They had the opportunity of their lives and they just kind of threw it away. I don’t have too much to say about it. It’s really unfortunate. We lost a lot of depth for that game. They were great players and they had a lot of potential. We’re just going to find more guys that are more dedicated to the cause.” Jefferson’s agent claims they were only smoking cigars. “We’re discussing the possibility of filing a grievance,” Cannon said. “I need to be in touch with them and really figure if that’s the best route to take.” Montgomery claims he walked in on Wood and Jefferson smoking cigars.   Need NFL Tickets? Texans kick three players off team for smoking pot

Absolutely nothing is going right for the Houston Texans this season. Week 8 Fantasy Football Injury Report: Arian Foster

Arian Foster left Sunday’s game with a strained hamstring, the same one he initially injured one week earlier. Foster is said to have a “mild” strain, which normally correlates with a grade 1 (no tearing, just over-stretch) or low grade 2 (partial tearing). Foster is currently considered day-to-day, as he will use the Texans bye week to rehab and rest the strained hamstring...

Gary Kubiak Says Matt Schaub is His Starting QB

Case Keenum was good, not great against the Chiefs. In Gary Kubiak’s mind he didn’t do enough to win the job. “Matt’s our starting quarterback,” Kubiak said of the veteran Schaub. “Case played this week.” Kubiak said he would re-evaulate the position during the Texans’ bye week.

The Texans’ playoff hopes were dealt another crushing blow on Sunday, but there may have been a silver lining in the loss.
