EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings apparently started the first day of free agency by re-signing one of their own players. According to reports, Minnesota re-signed defensive tackle Letroy Guion to a three-year deal on Tuesday shortly after the new year league began at 3 p.m. Guion, a former fifth-round draft pick by the team, has spent his four-year career with the Vikings and finished last season with 35 tackles, four sacks and 13 quarterback hurries in 16 games. He started the first two games of the year while Kevin Williams served a suspension and started in a late-season win against Washington. Minnesota had Guion and defensive tackle Fred Evans reach unrestricted free agency on Tuesday, leaving the team short on the interior of the defensive line. Williams and Remi Ayodele are the starters and Christian Ballard returns for his second year after being a fourth-round pick in last year's draft. The Vikings re-signed third-string quarterback Sage Rosenfels on Monday, locking up one potential free agent. Minnesota will turnover nearly a third of the roster that went 3-13 last season by cutting guards Steve Hutchinson and Anthony Herrera and cornerback Cedric Griffin, and having 15 other players reach free agency today. Starters, tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, linebackers E.J. and Erin Henderson, and safety Husain Abdullah are free agents. Xavier Adibi, Devin Aromashodu, Lorenzo Booker, Greg Camarillo, Matt Katula, Kenny Onatolu, Jarrad Page, Benny Sapp, Tyrell Johnson, Scott Kooistra also are free agents. Onatolu was a restricted free agent, but Minnesota didn't tender him. Page signed a contract to play baseball with the Los Angeles Dodgers this past weekend. Follow Brian Hall on Twitter.
