EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings have made their first move in their expected overhaul of the receiving corps. Minnesota reportedly released veteran receiver Michael Jenkins on Monday, a move first reported by ESPN. Jenkins, 30, was third on the Vikings with 449 receiving yards and tied for third with 40 catches. He signed a three-year, 8.75 million deal with the team after the lockout ended in 2011, coming along with offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave from the Atlanta Falcons. Jenkins was due a base salary of 825,000, but releasing the slowing veteran now saves Minnesota from paying a 2.425 million roster bonus he was due if he was still on the roster on March 16. Last year, Jenkins agreed to a pay cut in a contract renegotiation, paying him less last season but helping his chances of making the final roster.
