Found September 06, 2013 on The Sports Post:
Believe it or not, I actually had a moment of doubt before last night’s Denver Broncos-Baltimore Ravens game. An old friend called me for gambling advice, and despite having predicted a potential 16-0 season for Denver and writing this, this, and this about Joe Flacco, I stumbled before telling him I thought the Broncos would win by double digits. It was fair to doubt them. No Von Miller. No Champ Bailey. No Elvis Dumervil. Defending champs on Opening Night. The Ravens came into this game with a lot more buzz than they should’ve. They came out of it completely deflated, a team so dependent on its pride utterly humiliated on national television. And honestly, if this game were played 100 times, the Broncos might win 102. I wasn’t in Denver last night. I was sitting on a lounge chair at The Sports Post's Chief Publisher Evan Kendall’s apartment, eating buffalo chicken dip and feeling more vindicated than ever in my entire career. Joe Flacco was called the best quarterback in the...

Baltimore Ravens: Are they ready for the Broncos?

On January 12, 2013, the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos battled it out during the AFC divisional round of the playoffs. The game, later dubbed the “Mile High Miracle” left Broncos fans stunned after the underdog Ravens defeated their team in double overtime. FACE PALM: Denver’s Danny Trevathan intercepts Joe Flacco but drops the ball before getting into the end zone (GIF)

We’ve seen real bone head mistakes in tonight’s Ravens/Broncos opener but this one without a doubt takes the cake. In the fourth quarter Denver’s Danny Trevathan intercepted a Joe Flacco pass and promptly took it back for six points. Or did he? Instead of holding onto the ball and handing it to the ref when […]

Why The Baltimore Ravens Will Not Repeat As Super Bowl Champions

The Baltimore Ravens won the 2012-2013 Super Bowl thanks to an amazing playoff run by Joe Flacco. Even with Flacco still at the helm of this team, the Ravens will not repeat as Super Bowl Champions in 2013-2014. The Ravens offense was very good in the playoffs last year, but shouldn’t be that great in 2013-2014. Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, Bernard Pierce, and Torrey Smith are all very...

Ravens Lead 7-0 Over Broncos After 1st Quarter

DENVER (AP) — Joe Flacco threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Vonta Leach and the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens led the Denver Broncos 7-0 after the first quarter Thursday night in the season opener that started 33 minutes late because of lightning. A steady drizzle fell on the opening drives and both teams had to punt. As the rain cleared out, the Ravens went on a 10-play,...

Ravens' tight ends call opener ‘frustrating’ and ‘disappointing’

Baltimore Ravens Baltimore Ravens tight end Ed Dickson finished Thursday night’s 49-27 loss to the Denver Broncos with just one catch for 13 yards, while Dallas Clark had seven catches for 87 yards, but had

Jacoby Jones has sprained MCL, could miss 4-6 weeks

The Baltimore Sun Baltimore Ravens wide receiver/returner Jacoby Jones sprained his MCL in his right knee and could miss four to six weeks, reports The Baltimore Sun. Citing a league source, The Sun, reports that Jones had an MRI Friday that revealed the injury.  The injury will not require surgery and should heal on its own. Jones was injured when rookie safety Brynden Trawick...

Broncos LB commits boneheaded mistake

It’s the first game of the year and Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan seems to have forgotten that you need to carry the football INTO the end zone for it to count as a touchdown. After making a great play to intercept Joe Flacco in the 4th quarter, Trevathan dropped the football in a premature touchdown celebration.  The ball rolled out of the end zone and resulted in a touchback...

Football, My Friends, Is Back!

It’s been a long, desperate offseason of forcing myself to watch home makeover shows, Law and Order:SVU marathons and replays of Super Bowl XLIV…just to get through the day. But now, finally…FINALLY…NFL football is back. And none of that preseason crap. It’s the real deal, baby! The Super Bowl Champion Ravens take the field tonight against the still very bitter Denver...

Take Two: Josh Freeman vs Joe Flacco

With kickoff being a day away, I decided to shift my attention to aiding 2 QB leaguers in their week to week matchups. Every week, I, along with the help of my friend @AnthonyOlivetti (who also writes for football.com) will square off in picking a not so obvious quarterback start in 2 QB leagues that could help carry you to victory each week. JS: My Candidate for Week 1: Josh Freeman...

Danny Trevathan Is Officially The Bonehead Of Week 1

Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan intercepted Joe Flacco in the fourth quarter on Thursday night and was THIS close to his first career touchdown. Unfortunately, he joined the Desean Jackson Premature Celebration club and dropped the ball before he crossed the goal line, leading to a touchback instead of a touchdown. And if you thought things couldn’t get worse, the Ravens went...

The Gaffes that defined the Broncos, Ravens season opener

Last night’s much anticipated rematch between the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Broncos gave fans their first dose of real football. The game also gave us our fair share of gaffes which defined the whole game. It’s a theme that may play out during many of the season’s opening games. These are the gaffes that determined last night’s game. The “severe” lightning in...

VIDEO: Ravens catch a break, Broncos make boneheaded play

With a chance to ice the game at 49-17 early in the 4th quarter of the seasons opening game, Denver Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan picked off a Joe Flacco pass and returned it for what was thought to be a touchdown. Trevathan dropped the ball before reaching the end zone and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Brandon Stokley fell on it for a touch back. In the process of Trevathan’s...

NFL Week 1 Predictions

Ravens vs. Broncos: I expect Joe Flacco and Ray Rice to have very good games. I’m expecting a shoot-out much like last year’s divisional round game. And the same result should occur. Prediction – Ravens 34-27 Falcons vs. Saints: This promises to be a very entertaining offensive showdown. Since Sean Payton is back, many are already claiming that the Saints will be back as the...

Round Table: Biggest Threat

Which AFC opponent poses the biggest threat to the Patriots in their quest to return to the Super Bowl? Derek: I want to be creative here, but I have to go with the vanilla answer and say the Broncos are the Patriots top competition in the AFC.  It's a QB-driven league and Cincinnati's Andy Dalton and Houston's Matt Schaub just don't scare me.  Joe Flacco certainly...

Four Lessons Chicago Bears Can Learn From The Broncos' Win

Media personnel tried to fight against rain, lightning and winds to promote the Super Bowl champion Ravens as the team to beat. Even Peyton Manning’s former head coach Tony Dungy managed to switch sides and hailed QB Joe Flacco as “the real deal”.But there were many lessons to learn from this lopsided win and the Bears would stand to chew on every morsel of what was witnessed...
