Rex Ryan put a quick end to a budding controversy. The New York Jets coach addressed his players during a meeting Wednesday, reminding them to consider what they say in the wake of cornerback Antonio Cromartie's remarks that he'd rank himself the second-best wide receiver on the team. Wide receiver Chaz Schilens said Wednesday he felt the comment was a ''slight'' to the players at his position. He backtracked Thursday, saying he cleared the air with Cromartie. ''Antonio Cromartie is a hell of an athlete,'' Schilens said with a smile. ''He could play wide receiver anytime he wants to.'' Schilens also spoke individually with Ryan, who thought Cromartie's comments were mostly a joke and recognized that Schilens didn't take them as they might have been intended.

Jets' Cromartie stands by 'No. 2' WR comments

Antonio Cromartie says he meant no disrespect, but he meant what he said. The New York Jets cornerback started a mini-feud earlier this week when he told ''ESPN First Take'' that he'd rank himself as the No. 2 wide receiver on the team, behind only Santonio Holmes. Chaz Schilens called it ''a slight'' and coach Rex Ryan quickly quashed any tensions...

Antonio Cromartie says he is the second-best receiver on the Jets roster

Outside of new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, nobody really knows what the Jets are planning to do with their offense this season. At this point it wouldn’t shock me if that includes Rex Ryan, who we all know is a defensive-minded coach. Tim Tebow is likely going to be used in a number of situations including the red zone and on special teams, but he may not be the only player...

The best thing about the Jets’ controversy is that it is always someone new. That is what makes it ever so interesting. In the past, head coach Rex Ryan has spoken out about – well, everything – and...

Rex passes on razzing Obama about Jets comments

A day after President Barack Obama told an Ohio radio station that he is not a fan of Tim Tebow being on the New York Jets, the normally brash and bold coach resisted taking the expected humorous swipe. Instead, Ryan says Friday that he respects Obama and ''I respect the fact that this is opinion.'' Wait...
