Both members of the Ryan family will be on the field at MetLife Stadium this weekend when Rex‘s Jets welcome Rob‘s NFC South-leading Saints on Sunday. The two twin brothers are easily distinguishable now — Rob sports long hair and a goatee while Rex prefers a more clean-cut look — but that wasn’t always the case, as proven by a nearly 20-year-old photo that made its way around the Internet on Friday. The photo, taken on the day of the brothers’ graduation from Southwestern Oklahoma State in 1986, shows both Rex and Rob looking hilariously ’80s in their matching mullets and patchy mustaches. Father Buddy, on the other hand, looks as classy as ever. Check out the photo below. Rob and Rex Ryan featured on @nflnetwork this Sunday. And this amazing picture will be involved: http://t.co/elbL9Fstsb— Will Brinson (@WillBrinson) November 01, 2013Filed under: Headlines, New York Jets, NFL, Offbeat, Zack Cox

TOJ Roundtable – Rex Ryan’s Future Edition

The Turn On The Jets Roundtable is back to debate issues surrounding the New York Jets. Make sure to give all of the writers a follow on Twitter and if there is a question you want to see us debate, leave it in the comment section! What does Rex Ryan need to do over the second half of the season to keep his job? Joe Caporoso - I’m generally a pro-Rex guy but I need to see more...

Rob Ryan keeping jokes minimal during Jets week

Rob Ryan is portraying himself as the more serious brother this week. Albeit with a self-serving jab mixed in. The Saints' defensive coordinator greeted reporters Friday by holding up the plain white back side of a play chart. The message was that he wasn't going to try to one-up his brother - Jets head coach Rex Ryan - in his game-week media session because he was more...

It will be a family affair on Sunday as New York Jets coach Rex Ryan faces off with twin brother Rob Ryan, the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints.

Saints-Jets Preview

Under new coordinator Rob Ryan, the New Orleans Saints' vastly improved defense has made things miserable for many opposing offenses. Ryan will try to ensure that misery extends to his twin brother's team as the Saints visit the New York Jets on Sunday. The Saints have been known for a high-powered offense, leading the league in total yardage over the last five seasons...

Rex Ryan: Graham, Gronk sometimes impossible to cover

BY NICK ST. DENISTwo weeks ago, Rex Ryan had to gameplan for tight end Rob Gronkowski. This week, he's prepping to face Jimmy Graham. You know, just your typical 1a and 1b, in no particular order."Oh man, they’re both outstanding," Ryan said Thursday, via NewYorkJets.com. "Gronk is probably a little more physical down the field than Graham. Graham has probably...

Auto-Pilot Picking: New Orleans Saints at New York Jets Week Nine

PHOTO COURTESY: NEWORLEANSSAINTS.COM So it’s safe to say that the New York Jets had a tough one last week.  We knew it was going to be hard for them to win, but we had no idea it would be that bad.  After suffering a 49-9 loss at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals, it doesn’t get any easier for Gang Green in week nine when they host the New Orleans Saints. This week’s matchup...

Rex Ryan Predicts Dee Milliner Will Be Best Rookie CB By Season’s End

Jets rookie cornerback Dee Milliner has struggled and looked awful at times this season, but if you let Rex Ryan tell it, the best is yet to come. While speaking to the media Wednesday, Ryan announced that Milliner will continue to start, and predicted the young rookie would be the best cornerback in his draft class by seasons end. “I will say this, by the time this season...

Week Eight Jets’ Defensive Snap Count Analysis

Going back into games to look for more insight and evidence is usually a fun and useful tactic, but it took a lot out of me to look back at the Jets-Bengals massacre.  Regardless, I came away with more interesting snap counts of defensive players in Rex Ryan’s complicated schemes and I noted where players were lining up.  For that spreadsheet, click here.  Let’s put aside...

New York Jets Defensive Line Grade Sheet: Week 8 (Midseason Grades)

There’s really no way to sugarcoat Sunday’s performance in Cincinnati, on either side of the ball. Simply put, Rex Ryan & Co. were outmatched and embarrassed on the road. While the defense put together another solid performance against the run (holding Cincinnati to just 79 total yards and a 3.2 ypc average), it struggled to have the same impact vs. the pass. The front four...

Should the Dolphins Take Notes from the Jets?

Coming into the season the Jets were viewed as a joke, projected to win 4, maybe 5 games. At the half way point they are 4-4 because their coaching staff, led by Rex Ryan has put them in the best situation to win.Rookie Geno Smith hasn't had much success so far this season, but he hasn't had to. The Jets have leaned on their top 10 rushing attack and a top 15 defense, letting...

Saints Nation: How Do Offenses Gameplan Against Saints' Defense?

I have read on this blog that the 2012 defense sucked because there was not the ONE guy to gameplan for (paraphrased from an NFL player). The one threat that you have to account for. The one you always have to watch as an offense to know where they are and what they will do before the snap. Recognize his style and look at his tells. Play poker and call his bluff. Now... the Saints...

Dee Milliner is ‘close to being the player’ the New York Jets want

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said rookie cornerback Dee Milliner will start Sunday versus the New Orleans Saints in the swamps of Jersey. After surrendering four catches for 108 yards and a score to Marvin Jones, Ryan again benched the 22-year-old Milliner in last weekend’s 49-9 loss to the Bengals in Cincinnati. Gang Green took the 6-foot, 200 pound Milliner with the ninth...

Time for Jets to show they’re for real

If the Jets are going to break out of their pattern of maddening mediocrity, now would be a good time — beginning Sunday against the high-powered Saints at MetLife Stadium. If the Jets are going to make anyone believe in them, it starts with the Saints. “The red light has to come on now,” veteran guard Willie Colon told The Post Friday. “We have to take care of our own business...
