It appears we’re headed for a good ol’ fashioned quarterback controversy in New York once again. Rex Ryan appeared on NFL AM on Monday morning and avoided referring to Mark Sanchez, or any of the Jets’ quarterbacks, as the starter, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com. New York as five quarterbacks on its roster: Sanchez, newly-signed David Garrard, Greg McElroy, Tim Tebow and Matt Simms. Due mostly to Sanchez’s contract, the USC product is expected to be the starter for the fifth straight year. The Jets are expected to cut or trade (good luck) Tebow before the season starts. Doing so would free up $1 million in cap room for New York. Last season, the Jets went 6-10 and were still in the playoff hunt late in the season. Sanchez started 15 games and threw for 2,883 yards, 13 touchdowns and 18 interceptions while completing 54.3 percent of his passes. That was the the lowest completion percentage, fewest touchdowns and least yards he’s had since his rookie year in the league. After an...
