After throwing 3 interceptions in 11 passes, head coach Rex Ryan called Mark Sanchez’s play “unacceptable” (Credit: AP Photo) With the addition of Geno Smith during the 2013 NFL draft, the competition for the New York Jets starting quarterback position intensified. With a little over three months until the start of the NFL season Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms are all hoping to secure the starting position. Today, as organized team activities began across the NFL, one of those quarterbacks struggled to take control of the starting position. During organized team activities today, while throwing 11 passes, Mark Sanchez threw three interceptions. According to head coach Rex Ryan, Sanchez’s interceptions are “unacceptable”. “This is OTAs and things, but yeah, that’s going to be the pressure that we’re putting on him,” Ryan said. “He did a lot of great things. It’s not that you try to cover up the fact you had some bad plays — no, no, no you flat tell him. We can’t have these and all that type of stuff. He knows.” Ryan was happy to see that his defense was playing tough, but knows Sanchez will have to perform better if he wants the starting quarterback job. “It’s a good thing defense makes the plays, but no, I’d rather him not turn the ball over once,” Ryan said. “He did a lot of great things, and then those negative things, at the end of the day, that’s what gets you beat. And so we’ve got to to do a better job of eliminating those turnovers.” Call me crazy but I think the Jets will have a carousel at quarterback this season. Look for Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith and Greg McElroy to start at least one game throughout the season. In the end, I think Geno Smith plays the most games over the course of the 2013 season. • While I agree that Buttfumble Sanchez sucks big time...rex is also unacceptable as a poor excuse for a head coach. I can't believe the jests front office is hanging their hopes on this clown for another season. He will be fired by mid season, tens games in at the latest.
