Now that all 32 team have finally played eight games, we can officially label this the halfway point in the NFL season. The Chiefs remain the only unbeaten in the NFL, meanwhile the Broncos and Seahawks appear to be hot on their heels for the crown of the NFL’s top team. Peyton Manning and the Broncos’ offense is on an historic pace at the midway point, and the Chiefs’ defense looks like the best we’ve seen in some time. Tom Brady and Eli Manning have struggled — though, to very different extents. Philip Rivers and Andy Dalton have impressed. And many star players have been forced to watch from the sidelines as injuries continue to grow league-wide. With the midpoint of the season already here, it seems like an appropriate time to evaluate everything that’s happened in the first nine weeks and reassess. So, let’s see who is in the lead for every major award and what teams look like the top Super Bowl contenders. *** MVP: Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs Peyton Manning is putti...

The AFC battle begins for the Denver Broncos with the San Diego Chargers

Well it was an interesting bye week for the Denver Broncos (7-1), not to mention an interesting couple weeks for the NFL. The Broncos and I, are focusing on the game as usual. This week the team travels to Qualcomm Stadium to face the San Diego Chargers (4-4). This begins a tough AFC road for the Denver Broncos considering all but two games for the remainder of the season are AFC...

Chargers face big challenge in defending Manning

Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano has a plan to contain Peyton Manning when San Diego hosts the Broncos this Sunday. ''Drop 11 guys into coverage,'' Pagano said with a laugh. ''That would be innovative.'' Although even that might not stop Manning. ''If they completed it, I would be really disappointed,'' Pagano said. The...

Peyton Manning Practices for Broncos Despite Ankle Injury

Peyton Manning practiced for the Denver Broncos Wednesday despite popping up on the injury report with an ankle injury, according to ProFootballTalk. Even though Manning and the Broncos were off last week, it would appear that the injury has lingered long enough for the Broncos to note him on the injury report. There could be some Bill Belichick-esque shenanigans going on in Denver...

Does Anything Seem Weird About This Photo Of Nick Foles and Peyton Manning’s Jerseys At The Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Oh that is right, everything is weird about this. The good folks at Canton wasted no time putting Nick Foles’ jersey on display next to Peyton Manning’s to commemorate their 7 touchdown performances this season. It just feels very odd, no? Congrats to both of these very elite quarterbacks who will both no doubt end up with more gear in Canton…. Especially Nick. Article found...

Nick Foles Gets Jersey Hung in Hall of Fame Next to Peyton Manning’s After Throwing Seven Touchdowns

Peyton Manning is playing over his head this year, which is saying something, but even his crazy numbers aren’t enough to separate himself from the likes of Nick Foles in the Hall of Fame race. That’s right — Manning and Foles now share a memorabilia display case in Canton that commemorates Manning’s otherworldly Week 1 performance against the Ravens, when he popped the bottle...

Fantasy Football 2013 Quarterback Rankings: Week 10

Fantasy Football Week 10: The Creeper Report

Bye weeks. Real football players and fantasy football players have disparate feelings about them. Suction cleaners like the Kreepy Krauly E-Z Vac attach to the suction side of your plumbing. Water is sucked out of the pool by the filter pump.  Reality: A weekend off to rest my bruised body and watch other people play football while my coaches leave me alone? Sure. Pay me to do...

Take Two: Eli Manning vs Ben Roethlisberger

Last week was rough for yours truly. Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman is living up to his name as a quarterback guru, making two quarterbacks look impressive this season. Josh McCown carved up the Packers, hitting Brandon Marshall all night long, and rewarding the faithful with 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and even chipped in 20 rushing yards. Jake Locker, on the other...

Peyton Manning-Philip Rivers, Tony Romo-Drew Brees Quarterback Battles Highlight Week 10 Action in NFL

The slate for the coming weekend in the NFL is a lot better than the one we saw in Week 9. With Carolina becoming a postseason threat and the New York Jets moving into playoff position, previous assumptions have been shattered. This isn’t the time in the season to take things for granted. Surprises always lurk around the corner — it’s just that one doesn’t know when or where...

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers: 2013 Week 10 NFL Pick

Denver Broncos (7-1) at San Diego Chargers (4-4) Dominant teams usually play very well off of a bye. Since 2002, road favorites of 3.5 or more are 29-8 ATS since 2002, including 12-1 ATS in a divisional game. This makes sense. Dominant teams are better suited to using an extra week off. Peyton Manning, for instance, is 9-1 ATS off of a regular season bye since 2004, in his last 10...

San Diego Looks to Recharge vs. Broncos

San Diego's Week 9 loss was a punch in the gut, halting the team's momentum and stymying an improbable march to playoff contention. But the Chargers can get that bad taste out of their mouths as they go head-to-head with Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos.

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers: Three Bold Predictions

As both of these AFC West rivals enter the second half of their schedule, the outcome of this game will have huge playoff implications. For the Denver Broncos, they are trying to keep pace with the 9-0 Kansas City Chiefs in their own division, while the San Diego Chargers desperately need a win to remain in the wild card picture. Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers have had some...

Why We'll Beat the Raiders

The Raiders are going down this Sunday. Even though my roommate disagrees. In fact, probably because my roommate disagrees. He knows close to nothing about football. But you know who does? The bookies in Vegas. They are giving the Giants 7 points against Oakland. Do they know something we don't? Of course not. Because every Giants fan knows we can crush this Raiders team...
