Down and Distance:
After finding out he was listed as the most overrated coach in the NFL by a Sporting News player poll, Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he was happy to finally beat Bill Belichick (Credit: AP Photo)
After the Sporting News released their poll yesterday that asked NFL players to rank the most overrated and underrated NFL Coaches, Rex Ryan was at the top of the overrated list. After hearing about the poll, today Ryan spoke to reporters.
In what seems like something you would see from the Onion instead of an NFL coach, Ryan said he glad to finally beat Belichick.
“My first thought was I looked and saw who was second. Hey, I finally beat Belichick. I got him. I knew it would take time, but I finally got him,” Ryan said, via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “Like it hasn’t been a tough enough year. Nah, I wasn’t offended by it. At the end of the year, we’ll see who’s overrated.”
Ryan went on to say that he believes he would lead the poll of which coach players would most like to play for, adding Mike Tomlin to the top of that list as well.
It is nice to see that Ryan added a little humor to this poll.

You just had to expect Rex Ryan would weigh in on this one.
Tuesday we reported that, along with Bill Belichick, Ryan was voted the most overrated coach in the NFL by a Sporting News poll which took the pulse of players. Given Ryan's penchant for opening his mouth whether it's warranted or not, it's unsurprising that he took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the...
Leave it to Rex Ryan to give a funny response to being voted the most overrated NFL coach in an anonymous player poll this week. The New York Jets head coach did what he does best and turned a press conference into a comedy monologue Tuesday after he was asked about the Sporting News poll.
"My first thought," Ryan said Wednesday, "was I looked and I saw who was...

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is not all that upset about recently being voted the most overrated coach in the NFL. Instead, the Jolly Green Giant has found a way to put a positive spin on the whole thing. If nothing else, Rex can now say he beat Bill Belichick at something.
“My first thought was I looked and saw who was second,” Ryan said on Wednesday according to the NY...
It’s safe to say there weren’t too many folks in Patriots Nation feeling good after barely squeaking out a win in Week 7 at home against the Jets. Everything from the secondary to the offense to the coaching staff was in question.
Many felt the trip to London for Week 8’s game against the Rams would be somewhat of a “make or break” situation for the youngest team Bill...
All that Bill Belichick‘s second-place finish in the Sporting News’ most overrated coach in the NFL poll shows is that 16 current players are out of their minds.
Belichick finished 19 votes behind fellow AFC East head coach Rex Ryan, and three votes ahead of Andy Reid. Belichick more overrated than Reid? No way.
Belichick hasn’t had a losing season since 2000. He’s the only...

To no one’s surprise (except maybe Andy Reid’s), New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan was named the most overrated head coach in the NFL. The Sporting News conducted a mid-season survey of 103 current NFL players from 27 teams and Rex topped the list.
The rest of the list breaks down as follows:

After a disappointing first half, the New York Jets are hoping to come out of their bye with a much-improved effort down the stretch.
Coach Rex Ryan, though, knows his team will be in for a tough test at CenturyLink Field, where the Seattle Seahawks have yet to lose.
The struggling Jets try to turn things around Sunday against a Seattle team looking to extend its best home start...
The emergence of so many young quarterbacks in recent years has turned the National Football League into a "passing league".Or so say the experts and media outlets who cover the sport.Recent years have also shown that it is possible for teams with weak defenses to not only make it to the Super Bowl, but win it. Sometimes it seems like I'm watching the "Bizarro...
The bye week is often a time for NFL teams to reflect on their season so far and to make adjustments as most prepare for what they hope to be a long playoff run.
Like most NFL players, many Patriots players spent their bye week at home with family or traveling to exotic locations to enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation. But after some quality reflection and self-evaluation...
