One added bonus of Sunday's win over the Saints was that Jets coach Rex Ryan had to watch his brother become the latest victim to Tom Brady's late game heroics on the same day that his New York Jets lost.
Let's just say that Sunday was not kind to the Ryans.
When asked about his brother's day in Gillette, Rex was to the point, per Christopher Price of WEEI:
“It was a horrible day for the Ryan family,” Ryan said on Monday. “Good thing’s my dad’s out of coaching. … Until it hits zero, Brady’s done that time and time again.”
Rex would know better than most the kind of damper that Brady can put on some people's Sundays. In the past couple of games at MetLife, Brady has been surgical; going 44-66 with six touchdowns, no picks, and a combined 86 points.
Rex must be getting a little desperate for some success against Brady now. He's gone as far as to campaign for Jets fans to be loud on Sunday:
“I’m just telling our fans, ‘Come ready,’ ” Ryan said on ESPN Radio.
What, Jets fans don't know when to be loud at home?
Hopefully, on Sunday Brady and the Patriots will put on a performance that makes Rex mimic his brother:
