Sporting News recently conducted a poll of 103 NFL players from 27 different teams on a variety of topics including the NFL's most overrated head coach. The results aren't surprising.
Rex Ryan won the dubious honor of being selected as the NFL's most overrated head coach with 35 votes, topping Bill Belichick by 19 votes. Andy Reid came in a distant third with just nine votes.
Part of Rex Ryan's image issue is his lack of decisive action this season. Mark Sanchez's play continues to be a major problem for the Jets' offense, and Ryan has yet to make any sort of significant change. That combined with his first two seasons with the team, both of which ended in losses in the AFC championship game, lead players and fans alike to believe that his ability as an NFL head coach are vastly overrated.
Sporting News' other results are every bit as predictable. The New England Patriots were voted the best NFL organization, the Browns were voted as the worst organization, and Michael Vick edged out Cam Newton by one vote as the NFL's most disappointing player.
