Around this time last year, Rex Ryan, as we've come to expect, again declared the Jets Super Bowl contenders, using up enough hot air to fill Times Square.

Fast forward to Thursday, when the once-boisterous head coach took a much different approach, urging his team to become more like their Super Bowl champion co-tenants.

My, how things have changed in a New York minute. (Cheesy, I know. Bear with me.)

As Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com writes, Ryan was faced with a "Do-you-feel-pressure?" question for the first time in his four-year tenure. His answer ... well, was not too Rex-like.

"Pressure? It's not a security thing for me," said Ryan. "I want to win, I want to be special. Just like the Giants were last year, I want to be special. So that's what's driving me."

Yes, the same man, who a mere five months ago stated his squad was "clearly" the best team in the Big Apple, is now bowing down to Big Blue. That sound you hear is Ryan munching on his freshly-served humble pie, which, ironically enough, began baking after the Giants handily beat the Jets on Christmas Eve, the second of three straight season-ending losses for Gang Green.

"I admit it, I made a mistake by saying all that stuff before," said Ryan.

Admittance is the first step, Rex. Remember that.
