New York Jets coach Rex Ryan says Mark Sanchez is the team's starting quarterback ''this week'' - and wouldn't make a long-term commitment. Ryan has been asked about his quarterback situation several times during the last few weeks, and has insisted that no switch to Tim Tebow is coming. When he was pressed Wednesday about his qualifier, Ryan got slightly testy saying: ''What do you want me to say? He's our starter. He's our starter this week.'' The comments come hours after owner Woody Johnson told CNBC that Tebow will ''be with us for three years.'' Sanchez says he's not fearful of losing his job, and Tebow says he's happy with any opportunities he gets. But the solution could be simple: Keep both on the field at the same time.

The blame game: Mark Sanchez edition

In light of the pathetic and humiliating loss to the Houston Texans, I have taken it upon myself to compile a list of problems the New York Jets had in the game, and problems the team has as a whole. It seems to me that Mark Sanchez is the root of every single problem—on the field and off—and I intend to point that out. This is a team that has been plagued with injuries, or ...

Mark Sanchez and the Angry Mob in New York

The quarterback is the spotlight position of the NFL. Do it right and you get praise and accolades. Do it wrong and you get run out of town by an angry mob. Mark Sanchez has done it right and wrong over the years, and the mob in New York has slowly been gathering, lighting torches and chanting, “Tebow. Tebow.”Everyone speculated as to whether or not the mob would get its way...

People are going to read into the wording used by New York Jets coach Rex Ryan when he said on Wednesday that Mark Sanchez will remain the Jets starting quarterback "this week." The fact that Ryan did not commit beyond Sunday's game against Indianapolis may or may not mean anything, but it certainly will fuel speculation about whether Tim Tebow could become the starter...

Rex Ryan on T.O.: 'Never say never'

After Terrell Owens took to Twitter to plead with the Jets to take a flier on him, Jets head coach Rex Ryan didn't say the team would do so but didn't rule it out, either.

Why we may not see more Tim Tebow from the Jets afterall

Last year, about this time, it happened. The underperforming Denver Broncos removed Kyle Orton from his position as starter and anointed Tim Tebow to his spot. Without getting into details, we know the story from there. With Tebow at quarterback the Broncos reeled off a number of impressive late game victories and found themselves in the playoffs … Continue reading

Jets owner plans to keep Tebow for three years

Having been a long-time confidant of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Woody Johnson, some say, is more political than football-oriented. Whether or not that assertion is correct, the Jets owner sure sounded the part while discussing Tim Tebow. On Wednesday morning, Johnson appeared in an interview on CNBC and was asked if Tebow will remain with the Jets beyond 2012...

Rex Ryan: JJ Watt should be playing for Knicks

JJ Watt was such a dominant force blocking passes during the Texans’ 23-17 win over the Jets on Monday night, Rex Ryan joked that he should be playing for the Knicks. “That JJ Watt’s the real deal,” Ryan said in his postgame press conference. “I think the Knicks should pick him up too with all the shot-blocking he did. The Jets Need to Refuel Their Engines

At this point the Jets have no answers on offense at all.  Tebow or Sanchez?  Where’s first round pick from a few years ago in Shonne Greene.  Santonio Holmes was their best offensive weapon and he’s done for the season.  I think Antonio Cromartie was right when he said he was the second best  receiver on the team.  He beat Johnathan Joseph badly on a stop and go route...

Jets place Revis on inured reserve

The New York Jets are placing Darrelle Revis on season-ending injured reserve, a few weeks after Rex Ryan said the team would wait until after surgery in case the star cornerback could return in time to play in the Super Bowl. The New York Jets will be without defensive end Kenrick Ellis for 4-6 weeks with what coach Rex Ryan labeled a "significant" knee injury.
