Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has changed his name on his Twitter profile to “Optimus Prime” ahead of Sunday’s contest with the Detroit Lions, indicating he’s prepared to match up against Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Johnson has gone by the nickname “Megatron” for years. Megatron is a character from the fictional “Transformers” comics, and he is the leader of the bad guys known as the Decepticons. Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots, which are known as the good guys in opposition to the Decepticons. Sherman’s Twitter name change is a strong indication that he will be covering the All-Pro wide receiver during Sunday’s game in Detroit. Though he did make the name change, Sherman downplayed the matchup with Johnson. “Same challenge as every week,” he said per Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times. “I don’t care who’s out there. It’s the league, boy, they’re going to have a good receiver out there every week where it’s Fitz (Larry Fitzgerald), Steve

NFL Rumors: Did Richard Sherman Wake A Sleeping Giant In Calvin Johnson With Transformers Remark?

Richard Sherman talks a big game. He did it against Tom Brady. He will do it with any player. Sherman and his Seattle Seahawks secondary has been stellar in 2012, and they will look to continue their run against another once vaunted pass offense in the Detroit Lions. Rugged Bears defense holds off Lions 13-7

In a game reminiscent of the old “Black and Blue” days, the Chicago Bears forced three Detroit turnovers in the red zone and held the Lions’ Calvin Johnson en route to a 13-7 victory at Soldier Field Monday night. The Bears improve to 5-1 on the season, and hold a one-game lead in the NFC North over Minnesota. Detroit dips [...]

Lions week 7 review: Defense steps up while offense goes missing

Futile, this is the word I use to describe the Lions offense as the defense was the only aspect to only show up at Solider Field Monday Night. The Lions gave off that same ol’ Lions feel that Detroit fans know all to well with Detroit suffering a 13-7 whooping at the hands of the Bears. Chicago manhandled Detroit from the first snap as Stafford hit Calvin Johnson on a 7 yard curl...

That drops the Lions to just 2-4 with a difficult contest next week against the Seattle Seahawks. It...
