Is Patrick Peterson a better athlete than Richard Sherman? (Credit: AP Photo) Seattle Seahawks corner back Richard Sherman may be considered one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. His three interceptions for the season, rank him third in the NFL and he is a part of a Seattle passing defense that ranks second in the NFL, allowing only 188 yards per game. Despite Sherman’s impressive play, he believes he will be watching a much better athlete tonight as the Seahawks face off against the Cardinals. While talking with ESPN this week, Sherman said Cardinals corner back Patrick Peterson is a way better athlete than him. “He’s a way better athlete than I am,” Sherman said. “He moves better and he’s faster. He has so much speed that it allows him to play a little differently than I do. I have to play straight technical football. He gets to play a little looser because he can recover in a flash and get back in a play.” Over his three year career, Peterson has 1,194 return yards, 6 receptions, 1 pass attempt and 4 rushing attempts. For a defensive back, Peterson has been all over the field. Sherman may be right that Peterson is the better athlete, but he is currently not the better corner. The 5-1 Seahawks visit the 3-3 Cardinals tonight at 8:25pm on NFL Network.
