Jerry Richardson is a lot of things.  Some fans like him, some fans don’t.  We know that former HC John Fox likely doesn’t and new first time HC Ron Rivera does.  A persons perception of the man will vary person to person.  Still, when it comes to something as monumental as the CBA, one thing stands out.

Jerry Richardson is on the negotiating team and he is absurdly inconsiderate.  In other words, his condemnation and vocal tone may become a problem to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement.

Jerry, shut your mouth.

In an interview with Jay Feely who is one of the players reps at these meetings, it came to light that Richardson simply talks down to people.  In this case, a pair of Pro-Bowl and future HOF’ers.  Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.

According to Feely, during this audio clip, Richardson decided to treat the two QB’s as children.

“Jerry Richardson . . . he’s going to criticize Peyton Manning and Drew Brees and their intelligence in our meeting Saturday?” Feely said.  “And sit there and say dismissively to Manning  ‘Do I need to help you read a revenue chart son?  Do I need to help break that down for you because I don’t know if you know how to read that?’”

So one of the top men for the league owners is going to bring emotion or at least a condencending attitude into the picture.\

According to a report on ESPN, “Richardson, who is co-chairman of the owners negotiating committee, continues to be perceived as the least flexible and most pessimistic spokesman for the owners, sources have noted on both sides.”
