Dolphins RG Richie Incognito has been having himself an interesting training camp, albeit for all the wrong reasons. First was the incident during this past Saturday’s preseason game against the Texans, where Houston DE Antonio Smith ripped off Incognito’s helmet and attempted to hit him with it. While new evidence showed that the Dolphins lineman may have gotten his hands up underneath Smith’s facemask, Incognito escaped punishment while Smith was suspended for Houston’s final two preseason games and the opening game of the season. Now ESPNs Adam Schefter is reporting that Incognito might have been involved in an altercation with a hotel security guard prior to the start of training camp, and that Incognito allegedly punched the guard unconscious outside a nightclub in the Fountainbleu hotel in Miami. Via ESPN… After a late night at a nightclub in the Fountainbleu hotel in Miami, Incognito punched and knocked out a hotel security guard, according to league sources. One person who knows Incognito says the Dolphins guard was punched first. There is videotape of the incident but the hotel is unwilling to turn it over and the NFL has not yet seen it — and might not due to fact that it is the hotel’s property and the Fountainbleu prefers that attention not be brought to the issue. The Dolphins have been aware of the incident because, as one source said, “they’ve done everything to bury it.” Whether or not Incognito faces any punishment from the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy remains to be seen. Depending on witness testimony as to who punched first, Incognito or the guard, and if the hotel continues refusing the league access to the surveillance video, then chances are very good that Incognito will face zero discipline from the NFL for this alleged transgression.
