The Power Zone:
Bobby Thompson, the player that hit a walkoff homerun for the New York Giants back in 1951 to help them win the National League Pennant, has died. He was 86.
That homerun is remembered just as much for the legendary call by announcer Russ Hodges "The Giants Win The Pennant! The Giants Win The Pennant!"
It was discovered later that the Giants had a system that helped them to tell which pitch was coming, leading hardcore Dodgers fans to say "The Giants STOLE The Pennant!"
Bobby Thompson's name is up there with Bill Mazeroski, Joe Carter, Carlton Fisk, Kirby Puckett, Carlton Fisk, and Aaron Boone, players that have hit historic walkoff homeruns.
