Will Rob Gronkowski need a fourth and possible fifth surgery for his arm? (Credit: AP Photo/Elise Amendola) After coming back from injury to play in the Divisional Round of last year’s playoffs, Rob Gronkowski broke his arm in the game against the Houston Texans. Gronkowski had surgery on the arm and in April, the last thing reported about his status was that he might have to have another surgery to remove an infection in his arm. The surgery needed to check for an infection never happened. Now, the Boston Herald is reporting that Gronkowski might need to have one more surgery. This time, Gronkowski needs surgery to replace the plate that secures the broken bone in his forearm. If all goes well, Gronkowski could be back and ready to play by week one of the 2013 season. However, if the surgery finds that previous reports about an infection were true, than Gronkowski may need a fifth surgery to remove the infection. If Gronkowski has to have more surgeries there is no doubt that he will miss time for the 2013 season. While a Gronkowski-less offense might not completely slow down the Patriots, it is hard to imagine Tom Brady will be happy about losing one of his favorite targets. Gronkowski finished the 2012 season with 55 receptions for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games.
