Rob Gronkowski fever and his patented “spike” are sweeping the nation!

The New England Patriot’s star tight end has been unstoppable in his short career. In just two years, Rob has 25 touchdowns and has already set the single season tight end TD receiving record at 15 (and counting). After each of his scores, Gronk spikes the football so violently that it sometimes overshadows the events leading up to his celebration. In this video, Rob’s scoring spikes are fittingly put to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 overture, the classic 4th of July fireworks song. Very clever!

Video of the day: Gronk breaks down Patriots QB Tom Brady’s spike, Deion Branch talks Dolphins

The Patriots play the Dolphins in just a few hours, but let’s take you back to last week for a minute. That’s when QB Tom Brady launched a vicious spike against the Broncos after his TD. Well, TE Rob Gronkowski knows a thing or two about spiking. So while he was at a charity event this week, I asked him to critique it. After that, WR Deion Branch broke down Miami for a few minutes...

More nerdness and numbers: How much salary space do the Patriots have now?

You guys know I hate math. No offense to Mr. Litvinov, my Pre-Calculus teacher the Hackley School, but it’s just not my thing. And whenever I have to calculations, it’s always a chore. But still, I soldier on. Anyway, LB Jerod Mayo’s contract extension changed the math on the Patriots salary cap, so let’s do some more. How much salary cap space do the Patriots now have? Well...

Patriots’ Last-Ranked Defense No Big Deal?

Much has been made around New England (including this site) about the Patriots’ last-ranked defense and how epically porous it has been. The general feeling among many fans is that if Tom Brady and the Patriots offense do not put up at least 30 points, the Patriots will lose the ball game. Luckily, the Patriots have put up at least 30 points in 11 out of their 14 games this season...

Welker Good To Go

Wide receiver Wes Welker is good to go for today's game vs. Miami. Fantasy Spin: Welker was limited in practice by a knee ailment during the week, but was never in jeopardy of missing the game and the stud is fine to plug into fantasy lineups. As a side note, running back Shane Vereen is inactive for New England.

Pats LT Light hurt in warmup, won't play (AP)

Left tackle Matt Light is inactive for the New England Patriots after suffering an ankle injury in pregame warmups. Light, an 11-year veteran who has had a strong season protecting quarterback Tom Brady, was hurt before Saturday's game against the Miami Dolphins. New England Patriots Welcome Dolphins, In Pursuit of Home-Field

Well we have made it to week 16 and the 11-3, AFC East champion New England Patriots look to better their chances of home-field advantage in the playoffs.  The Patriots also will be looking to build on their current six-game winning streak when the Miami Dolphins will head into Foxborough.  The 5-9 Dolphins have had an up and down year with the downs out weighing the ups. The Dolphins...

Patriots, Dolphins still have plenty to play for

The New England Patriots are in the playoffs for the ninth time in 11 years. The Miami Dolphins missed them for the ninth time in 10. Both, though, have a lot at stake on Saturday with the Patriots going for a first-round bye and many Dolphins playing for jobs next season.

Patriots rally past Dolphins, clinch first-round bye

Tom Brady ran for two touchdowns and threw for another and the New England Patriots rallied to clinch a playoff bye with a 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.

Video report:

Each week of the NFL season, Omar Kelly provides a special video preview of the Miami Dolphins’ upcoming game. This week, Omar discusses how daunting a task the Dolphins face in trying to cover the Patriots’ tight end duo of Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. He also talks about punter Brandon Fields, linebacker Cameron Wake, injured tackle Jake Long and wide receiver Brandon...

The Patriots Look to Lock Up Top Seed in the AFC

The Patriots control their own destiny heading to the playoffs. If the Patriots win their final two games against the Dolphins and Bills, they lock up the number one seed in the AFC. If they succeed, the next road game would be in February 5th 2012 in the Super Bowl. New England had the top seed in 2010 and fell to the Jets in the AFC divisional round. The Patriots have two stumbling...
